The Inspiration Challenge| LL: SEVEN ๐ ๐ฎ ☮️
Hello everyone, I hope the past few weeks have been good to you. I've been doing great! I recently met with my college advisor and was told that next semester I only have to take two more classes and then I graduate. That means this semester is my last full-time semester and I graduate next semester. I am so excited!! I will FINALLY be done. Some of you may not know but school was really a challenge for me. So much so that I chose to give myself an extra year. There is nothing wrong with graduating in five years and I am not ashamed of it at all. Taking your time, if possible is important to get the best results. That goes for anything not just schooling. I was also able to add a minor with the extra time I added so I will graduate with the degrees I originally wanted.
That ties into what we will be talking about this week. This weeks topic is about stepping
back and taking time for yourself. We have talked previously about the importance of finding a hobby and doing things that you enjoy. Stepping back this week is going to be about taking time off and being alone sometimes, especially in the midst of an attack. Stepping back completely from the situation is the first and most important step. Sometimes there will be situations that you are in that you cannot leave, but you can always take a break and come back to it when you catch your breath. Some examples where you cannot leave would be work or be dealing with children. Those are things you cannot just leave and come back the next day too. However, you can step back from the stress for a few minutes and catch your breath and come back to it.

Being alone every now and then is also important. I am one that enjoys being around family, my boyfriend and my friends as much as I can. I do make sure that during the week I get a few hours of my "me time". Whether it is going to the store by myself to look around or getting my nails done or having a hot bath. I make sure I give myself time to be alone with my thoughts and think without my phone or other voices clouding my own thoughts. Sometimes we need time to organize our thoughts and control the thoughts we have. If there are more negative thoughts than usual this is the time to assess why you would be thinking about so many negative things. You also want to make sure you are having healthy thoughts and controlling the traffic of "what if". "What if" thoughts can lead you to think in circles all day about a situation. You want to remember to think in the present, not what could and has not happened in the future yet. For people with anxiety controlling the "what if" traffic is hard because we have so many fears. Being alone and having your own time to think can help you control these thoughts.
The last thing that you should try if possible is taking a day off. Taking a vacation day or a weekend day to yourself. Creating your own schedule and doing things that relax you. Take this day to do something simple that you have been wanting to do. Do something by yourself or just enjoy being at home and relaxing. Cleaning is also therapeutic for some and having time to make the space around you clean will help your mind clean out unwanted thoughts as well. This week try to take some time to yourself. Either find a hobby or pamper yourself. Just give yourself time to think and organize your thoughts at least once a week and maybe more if you can and if you need it.
