The Inspiration Challenge: Level One
Hello, my beautiful friends and family! I hope you all missed me as much as I missed you. I have had so much going on lately, you have no idea. So let's catch up a little. I got an AMAZING job being an office associate and accounting assistant. They are a Christian based company and understand that school comes first in my life. They are gracious enough to allow me to do homework during my down time. This has allowed me to take on more hours and I am a few hours from being full time here but I love it and I love the people. On top of that, I moved and picked up another minor in school. This means I could not go home this summer because I am in two summer classes, I have one major and two minors now and working almost full time. Busy is not even the word for it but BLESSED is. I am so happy right now and everything in my life is really coming full circle for me. What's been going on with you all? Please chat with me in the comments or shoot me an email!
Now, I am titling this series "The Inspiration Challenge". Each blog under this series will be labeled a different level because this is a challenge or game to see how positive you can be. This challenge is to make and accomplish self-goals and ultimately become the best you that you can be. Positivity is contagious and radiates to others so challenge everyone you know to join us, join the challenge. Each level will have a corresponding "homework assignment". This will be either a set of goals or scriptures or an activity that goes with the blog for that week. I will be posting every Sunday and I want you all's participation. We are a team in this game called life and throughout all the bad things we see on the news and social media we can make something good out of ourselves and radiate positiveness to others.
Level one is just the beginners level. (If we were in a workout class this would be the stretching portion.) We are just going to brainstorm here. I want you to get in a quiet place for just 30 minutes...I know I know but you have a whole week so 30 minutes to yourself won't kill you, I promise. I want you to think about 5 things that make you happy, truly happy. Not 5 things that make you smile on the outside, 5 things that make you smile on the inside, that give you butterflies just thinking about it and write those down. On the other side of your paper, I want you to think of 5 things that make you sad or mad. JUST FIVE. There are a lot of things that make us sad and unhappy but let's just stick to the TOP 5 for now. When you're thinking about these don't just write down the first 5 things that come to mind. You might have to make a large list and choose the top 5 of each that really mean something to you. This might come to you throughout the day or in the middle of the night. We are going to do something with these 5 good and 5 bad things in later levels but for now, just focus on getting these top 5 things that lift you off the earth or bring you lower than low.
At this levels homework assignment, I want you to dig deep and really think about what you like and don't like. Get to know yourself. Sometimes we have a habit to feel what others around us feel and we don't feel things for ourselves. I will show you and be transparent with my homework for each episode. I am not asking you to do that; however, I do want you to talk in the comments about how the homework helped you that week or some things that you learned about yourself this week.
5 Things that make me smile on the inside:1. My family: seeing my family, being around them, knowing they are happy and healthy keeps me sain.
2. Quality time with my boyfriend: we both have busy schedules that do not always line up so having dinner or just a couple hours to hang out keeps a smile on my face.
3. Having a good time with friends: I am not one that has many friends (we will get to that on another level I'm sure) and I am not a big drinker but just being in the company of supportive friends is always nice. Even if we are just hanging at the pool or having lunch or getting our nails done.
4. Maintaining a self-image: the key word here is self. I love to be glamorous but that is not something reasonable or doable every day, however, I do like to make sure my nails are kept up, my hair gets its weekly conditioning, my face mask happens and my teeth are whitened. I also like to detox once a week and keep a healthy diet so that my insides are maintained as well.
5. Being overall successful: Doing well in school, achieving at work, making my parents proud and keeping a constant relationship with the Lord.
5 Things that make me sad: (These I am not going to go into much detail because...well I just don't want to)
1. Death
2. Crime
3. Importance
4. Rude people who reflect negativity to others because they aren't having the best day
5. Spite
Now tell me what you have been up too, or tell me what you learned about yourself doing the first challenge! I missed you all and I am so glad to be back. This is my favorite creative outlet and interacting with you all is one of my favorite things to do. Can't wait to hear from you and I hope you enjoy this week's challenge. You deserve 30 minutes a week to yourself so make it happen!
